Materials

  • Paper
  • Writing implement
  • Candle/source of flame
  • Optional: related sigil
Safety note: do not burn anything unattended, do not ingest herbs unless you know they are safe for you, and keep smoke, oils, salt, string, and small objects away from pets.

Method

  1. Prepare the space. This can be as simple as clearing a table and taking three slow breaths.
  2. Place the materials in front of you.
  3. choose one word for what you want to diminish, like “panic,” “static,” “fear,” “shame,” or “urgency.”
  4. Write it fully on the first line. On each line beneath, remove the last letter until only one letter remains.
  5. Fold the paper away from you three times. Say: “Less by line, less by name. What held me loosens. What remains is mine.”
  6. Burn the paper.
  7. Close the working with "So mote it be" said 3x
